Prowl |

|
Prowl tended to be one of the "behind the scenes" players in the cartoon
series. He was the analytical, systematic strategist of the Autobot troops
stationed on Earth. His battle plans could only be rivaled by those of
Shockwave, but Prowl's would invariably be better due to Shockwave's lack
of emotion. |

I saved Prowl for one of my later Cuboyd customs because his body design was
one of my favorites from the original Transformers toys. He and Jazz both
share the "doors as wings" and "car front on chest" style. I always
preferred Jazz a little bit more than Prowl, but I think that mainly came
down to the fact that I only owned Jazz as a kid. His black and white police
motif really make a very nice design though, and his higher-swept doors with
the little curved tips just give him a more dangerous look than most other
Autobots. Like a mechanical avenging angel. Much like my work on Jazz, I used quite a bit of epoxy putty for the front of the car/chest to get it sanded to the right shape and general size. I added a second layer of epoxy for the bumper after the general shape had been made. The upper arms had two wheels added to the backs, the feet had bumpers and wheels added, the lower legs had a sloped piece of epoxy for the windows and the lower torso had the usual strip of styrene plastic added down the front. The only other epoxy work I had was on the head with the "headphones" and top ridge. I sculpted those on after cutting and gluing the red horns in place first. I actually cut, shaped and painted the back doors/wings before attaching them to the figure. I found out that painting them while attached was a pain in the rear after Jazz, so they worked out easier this time. I'm happy with the final result, especially the head and doors/wings. The lights on his back were a last addition, so they don't appear in the 360, but are in the back and side views below. |
