 About the Doppelganger
Marvel once released a short series of comics called the "Infinity Wars" that gathered almost every popular comic character into one set of books. The premise is a bit convoluted, but it basically resolved into a battle between good and evil for control of an ultimate power. The evil character in this case (the Magus) creates evil doppelgangers of the heroes to keep them busy while he worked on his plans. One such creature was the Spiderman Doppel... The first version was killed by Spiderman, but a second was made shortly after, which survived to show up in another Marvel series, Maximum Carnage. He ultimately met his end when Carnage disposed of him part way through the series. In addition to his six arms and compound eyes, Doppelganger was able to shoot razor-wire sharp webbing from any of his six hands.

The G2 Stikfas toy is a blank, 3 inch tall, extra-super-articulated "Monk" out of the box. To make this figure I had to work out how to attach six sets of arms on one torso. In the end I moved one set of arms to just above the waist, so that they won't interfere with one another too much. I also opted to just use four arms with the new double-joints, and leave two arms with the original Stikfas single-joint. I might replace them with a set of double-jointed arms later, but didn't want to use three of my four new Monk kits just for one figure. Things to note:

  • The eyes are cut from a "sparkly" sticker sheet to make them look multifaceted, like the comic version.
  • The feet still manage to contain magnets, one in each of the two front toes, to keep him stable and give him extra "sticking" power.

If I could do one thing differently, I would have added an arch to the bottom side of the feet. However, I ended up painting them before that idea came to me. Otherwise, I'm really happy with how it came out. The face and all of the hand-inked lines took quite a while, but turned out really nice.
