About the "G3" Omega Venom Doppelganger
"Variations on a Theme." You can read about how the original Stikfas Spiderman Doppelganger was created by looking at my original custom page here. Venom, on the other hand, is a new creation entirely by me. I wondered what the Spidey doppel would look like with the black suit, and decided to go one further and turn it into a Venom Doppel instead. The basic storyline is that shortly after the very first (of two) Doppelganger Spidermen was killed by the real Spiderman (impaled on a fence), the Venom symbiote found the body and managed to heal it before it died. The insanity of the Doppelganger was a perfect match for the alien suit, and Doppelganger Venom was born.

As you see from the title of the custom, I've dubbed this a "G3" stikfas, for two reasons. First, because I added the jointed feet from my previous Kain custom. And second, because I managed to add a joint to the head (o-cap) as well! That's right, Venom can open and close that tooth-filled mouth of his as needed! Images of that process are below.

This figure is also new in the fact that it's a "G3" Omega body! I hacked up the lower limbs and upper arms of a regular Omega Knight figure to turn it into a super-articulated monster that's bulkier than the Spidey Doppel (as befits Venom). Like the first custom, I only double-jointed the top and bottom arms, while leaving the center arms single-jointed. It saves me a bit of work and still gives a great overall look to the figure.

So, final count:
Spiderman Doppelganger - 32 points of articulation
Venom Doppelganger - 35 points of articulation

Things to note:

  • The eyes are cut from a "sparkly" sticker sheet to make them look multifaceted, like the comic version Spidey Doppel. They still retain the "jagged" look of Venom though.
  • The feet (as usual) contain magnets, one in each of the two front toes, to keep him stable and give him extra "sticking" power. Even with the jointed toes, they still fit in nicely
  • The tongue is a reflective twist-tie from a "holiday bag" thing I found at WalMart. So, it can be posed in different ways too.
  • The white spider design was modified to stretch into the arms, and the back spider was modified to look like a cracked skull with spider legs.

Oddly enough, the most difficult thing I had to do with this custom was the feet... the omega legs and arms weren't as hard to put together as making another pair of jointed toes turned out. It wasn't terribly difficult, but ended up taking two pairs of feet to get right. Overall, I'm extremely happy with this one. The white spider designs turned out great, the head and eyes worked perfectly and the final figure looks nicely dominating on my shelf with the other customs.
