About the "G3" Alpha Carnage Doppelganger
"Revisiting Variations on a Theme." You can read about how the original Stikfas Spiderman Doppelganger was created by looking at my original custom page here. Then you can find out about the Doppel Venom custom here. Carnage (in the original storyline) was a spawn from the Venom symbiote that attached to a psychotic named Cletus Cassidy. I'm going to clam that this Doppel Carnage was created as a byproduct of the "Cosmic Cube" (which created the original Doppelganger Spider-Men) shattering and releasing the potential for one last doppel to form. The results are below.

Doppel Carnage was an idea I had around the same time I thought up Doppel Venom. Of the two, I decided to do Venom first because I preferred that character just a bit more. Once it was finished though, I had to complete the set. Carnage is no longer part of my personal collection though, since I already have two 6-armed customs and don't like to repeat myself too much. He is now sitting on a shelf at Shawn White's house.

I think I'm getting the hang of this whole process, as this custom only took me about two weeks to put together from start to finish. I managed to add a jointed head (with sharpened "teeth") and jointed feet AND used a full set of three double-jointed arms. All created with red G2 blister figures.

So, final count:
Spiderman Doppelganger - 32 points of articulation
Venom Doppelganger - 35 points of articulation
Carnage Doppelganger - 37 points of articulation

Things to note:

  • The eyes are cut from a "sparkly" sticker sheet to make them look multifaceted, like the comic version Spidey Doppel and to match the Venom custom. They too have the "jagged" look of the comic eyes.
  • The feet (as usual) contain magnets, one in each of the two front toes, to keep him stable and give him extra "sticking" power. Even with the jointed toes, they still fit in nicely
  • Each "tentacle" is a red-coated speaker wire from Radio Shack. The ends were added blobs of epoxy that I shaped and sanded.
  • There's no "design" to the Carnage symbiote, because there's just nowhere to put it. Instead it has the "swirly" patterning. All the swirls were added using a Micron Pigment pen... about two days of drawing.
  • Two of the hands are morphed into weapons. One a kind of fish-hook and the other a pendulum axe.

I'm really very happy with how this figure turned out. I'm also EQUALLY pleased with how well my Cosmic Cube custom case turned out. It's a simple acrylic cube turned upside-down and with a square of tin attached as a magnetic platform. The top of the case then has an embedded red LED in one corner, with two small watch batteries providing the power from inside the case. It glows beautifully and the tin bottom gives a nice reflection in normal light. More images are below.
